Our Activities

We are an NGO from the town of Karlovo in the beautiful region of the Rose Valley in the central part of Bulgaria.

Among our key priorities are: raising young people’ s awareness of the aching problems of our world, integration of socially disadvantaged and disabled people, fostering cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. This we do through different initiatives such as: awareness raising campaigns, organising local events, seminars, conferences, carrying out surveys, polling citizens’ opinion on different issues, taking part in intercultural youth exchanges.

The latest events organized by our NGO were the celebration of Europe Day with the support of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria where we provided for transport and integration of the students from a nearby Orphanage by actively including them in all the activities for the day.We were also selected by Global Youth Service Day for local organizers for Earth Day when we organised a protest bike ridethrough the town with slogans such as “Save the Earth”, “Walk to school and work”. We also planted some trees in the yard of one of the municipal schools.

Six representatives of our NGO took part in a multinational youth exchange in Ankara from 13th till 18th April 2007 on the topic of “Young Eco-Heroes”. There we presented the best practices in the sphere of ecology and energy-efficiency implemented in our Municipality.

We have also been selected to take part in the Council of Europe’s initiative “Medditerranean Crossroads” in Monopoli, Italy from 6th-10th June 2007 , part of the “All Different- All Equal Campaign”.

Summer 2007 also saw us hosting our first big Action 1.1 project, called "Young Eco Heroes in Action". We had partners from Turkey, Slovenia, Spain, Romania and our group. This project won second place among the youth exchanges  in our NA for 2007.

In October 2007 representatives from our NGO attended a training course on "Lifelong Learning Programmes in Turkey. The next month, November 2007, representatives attended another training course on "Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship" in Turkey.

October 2007, also saw the arrival of our Peace Corp Volunteer, Roger Schrader, who will be helping us out for the next two years.

Following these training courses, a representative from our NGO attended a SOHO training course in Ireland.

For World Aids Day on December 1, 2007 we hosted an Anti-Aids seminar in Karlovo and Sopot.
